Review: MAC's Painterly Pot

Recently, I made a trip to MAC, hoping to find a few new eye shadows

and maybe a lip gloss.  Well, I got all of that and one of MAC’s paint pots, Painterly to be exact.  At first, I thought it was an eye shadow primer, and I was ready to decline; I have so many primers that range from drug store brand to high end that it would be a shame to buy another.  However, after talking with one of the store attendants, she told me it’s highly pigmented, but also works with other shadows and liners.  It helps shadow stay on and works with the shadow to create a new dimension to your eye shadows. Lancôme's Dual Finish Matte Powder

I was taking a trip through my local department store cosmetic counters and I stumbled upon this awesome gift with purchase. Deluxe samples of Lancôme skincare products, choice of eyeliner pencil and lip gloss and a cute cosmetic bag. Although I generally don’t buy for the free gift, I couldn’t pass up this cialis online deal. I only had to spend $35, which is nothing at a cosmetic counter. I also never used Lancôme products before and I was interested using these products as a test for the brand. I really like all of the products I received, but I LOVE the one I actually bought, Lancôme’s Dual Finish powder makeup.

My Favorite Things: Drug Store Edition

Although I do own plenty of high-end cosmetics, I am very fond of drug-store brand cosmetics.  In many cases,

these items can be just as good as higher end brands, but they lack the price tag of high-end brands.  So this week, I decided to ro

und up a few of my favorite drug-store brand items, listing a few pros and cons for each item.

Top, NYX Eye Shadow Base; Right, Rose Salve; Top, L’Oreal True Match Press Powder

Wedding Guest Makeup Tutorial

One of my friends is getting married this weekend.  Although this day is going to be filled with plenty of fun and exciting moments, it poses a problem for me: how do I transform my daytime makeup into nighttime makeup without completely redo

ing it all?

I have my typical daytime look, as well as my nighttime look, but I don’t have a good “in between” look that can carry me from day to night.  But, for this wedding, I need a look that will need to do double duty  So, I will attempt to take my daytime makeup to nighttime without adding too much.

To start off,

I used a very light gold shadow over my lid.  For this look, I am using shadows from Lorac’s Bejeweled Eye Shadow Collection.  I am using the Topaz Bronze shades.  I primed my eyelid with NYX’s Eye Shadow Base in Skin Tone.

The top left is the base color used; the bottom left is the highlight color used on the brow bone; the lower right is the color used with the Cream Shaper.

Battle of the Brands: Clinique vs CoverGirl Liners

I’ve seen several trends in my favorite magazines that make use of brown eyeliners. To be honest, I never really gave thought to brown eyeliners, because I typically use black. With a new season approaching and these new trends in mind, I decide

d to give brown eyeliners a chance. In good makeup junkie fashion, I purchased two eyeliners, one from a higher end brand and the second from a drug store brand.

I purchased Clinique’s Quickliner for Eyes in Roast Coffee. Originally, I wanted to purchase the intense version of this product; unfortunately, the Clinique counter was out of the intense in the brown shade I wanted, so I settled for the original Quickliner.

This retailed for $15. I also purchased CoverGirl’s Liquilineblast in Brown Blaze. This retailed for $7.99 at Ulta.

As far as color selection, Clinique had a large selection of brown colors. CoverGirl had only one brown color that I could find. Although I was looking for a basic brown color, I think it is good to have several options when choosing liner colors.

Review: MAC Brush Cleanser

Is it just me or is finding a good brush cleanser surprisingly hard to do?! I feel like I’ve always been searching for a ‘better’ brush cleanser than the one I had and I keep falling short… After trying a bunch of

not so good cleansers I think I’ve found the perfect one for me.

For the past while I’ve just been using the simple olive oil and shampoo, but I never seemed to be able to get the right balance. I either didn’t dip it in enough olive oil, and the bristles were dry, or I put too much olive oil and I had to re-wash them because they were too greasy. It would clean them well, because the oil would break up the dirt, but it just seemed like an annoying process to me.

My Dupe List

I own a lot of beauty products, so I recently went through my stash to see if I had any similar or “dupes” of products out of the ones that I own. I tend to buy more high-end products, but I love drugstore products just as much as high-end products. This is the list of dupes out of the products that I own…
