How to spot a fake MAC palette!

How to spot a fake MAC palette!

Being your (almost) typical student, I absolutely love a bargain and there are bargain sites everywhere that allow me to buy things slightly cheaper than I would  normally get them in a store.

However, during my bargain hunting, I’ve noticed that there are more and more fake MAC cosmetics being bought by people who think they are the real deal.  Some of these products look ridiculously fake to those of us familiar with MAC, but some look like they could be geniune. And if you aren’t a complete MAC junkie like us here at Facekitt or if you’re just getting started with MAC products you might think you are getting a bargain when you are in fact throwing your money away on something that might not even be safe to use.

Splurge or Steal?

photo found on google

Now that Christmas is over and New Year’s has come and gone, if you’re like me, one of your New Years Resolutions is to try new products. That may seem silly, I mean, a resolution to try new products? But personally, I love being able to play around with makeup and figure out what products work and what don’t. Not only does it allow me to write reviews, but it allows me to possibly find staple items to add to my cosmetic collection. I’m sure you have seen “splurge or steal”posts on various beauty blogs, and I decided to do a version of my own. So keep reading if you want to see my list of splurges and steals (high end/drug store products) that I think you should try out this year! Read More

Review: Inglot Eyeshadows!!

Review: Inglot Eyeshadows!!

When people think of Las Vegas, most of the time they think of gambling and/or clubbing. When I think of Vegas, I think of shopping! Sounds crazy right? Yeah, I’ve accepted it. The part of Vegas I was most excited for was the shopping. Especially places like Inglot.

Inglot is a Polish company, that is starting to get big here in the States. However, they only have actual stores in places like NYC, LA, and Vegas! You can buy their cosmetics online here, but I’m the type of person who likes to physical test a brand before I buy.

AC Kirakira Eyeshadows

AC Kirakira Eyeshadows

Was browsing through the local pharmacy (Guardian) here in Singapore, and I saw a neat and new line of Japanese makeup. I was so thrilled because I absolutely love japanese makeup and the prices were so reasonable. I didn’t purchase any of the eyeshadows but thought I’d take pictures of them and put it up on this blog. So this is not a review post. I did purchase their cream blush which I will review in a week’s time.

Details:

Written on the packaging — Your eyes will sparkle with the iridescent color of tiny jewels for a radiant and attractive “pop”.

These were S$14.80.

They have such a cute website, it’s in japanese though: http://www.dobest.co.jp -> click AC Make Up.

Turn your Duo into a Trio

Turn your Duo into a Trio

All good things comes in twos and most cosmetics manufacturers love making eyeshadow duos because they can be convenient in a traveling bag. Why is there a hype around duo eyeshadows when it is ultimately restricted to very limited colors? We all know that a simple natural makeup look comprises of 3 colors, a light brow bone color, a medium brown/taupe, and a dark shadow to line your eyes or contour your eye socket. Duos usually cannot achieve the look, but here’s how to turn your Duo in a Trio.

This works for most brown & black shades. Look up at your eyeshadow duos and pick one that has a light color and really dark color. The NARS Duo in Taiga is a great example. Shades can be matt or shimmery – it’s totally up to your preference. I personally like to use a fluffy blending brush instead of a shader brush, for instance the MAC 217 or the 224. Read More
