Review: MAC's Painterly Pot

Recently, I made a trip to MAC, hoping to find a few new eye shadows

and maybe a lip gloss.  Well, I got all of that and one of MAC’s paint pots, Painterly to be exact.  At first, I thought it was an eye shadow primer, and I was ready to decline; I have so many primers that range from drug store brand to high end that it would be a shame to buy another.  However, after talking with one of the store attendants, she told me it’s highly pigmented, but also works with other shadows and liners.  It helps shadow stay on and works with the shadow to create a new dimension to your eye shadows. My Favorite Things: Drug Store Edition

Although I do own plenty of high-end cosmetics, I am very fond of drug-store brand cosmetics.  In many cases,

these items can be just as good as higher end brands, but they lack the price tag of high-end brands.  So this week, I decided to ro

und up a few of my favorite drug-store brand items, listing a few pros and cons for each item.

Top, NYX Eye Shadow Base; Right, Rose Salve; Top, L’Oreal True Match Press Powder

Wedding Guest Makeup Tutorial

One of my friends is getting married this weekend.  Although this day is going to be filled with plenty of fun and exciting moments, it poses a problem for me: how do I transform my daytime makeup into nighttime makeup without completely redo

ing it all?

I have my typical daytime look, as well as my nighttime look, but I don’t have a good “in between” look that can carry me from day to night.  But, for this wedding, I need a look that will need to do double duty  So, I will attempt to take my daytime makeup to nighttime without adding too much.

To start off,

I used a very light gold shadow over my lid.  For this look, I am using shadows from Lorac’s Bejeweled Eye Shadow Collection.  I am using the Topaz Bronze shades.  I primed my eyelid with NYX’s Eye Shadow Base in Skin Tone.

The top left is the base color used; the bottom left is the highlight color used on the brow bone; the lower right is the color used with the Cream Shaper.

Maybelline Color Tattoo : 24Hr Eyeshadow

Maybelline Color Tattoo : 24Hr Eyeshadow

…I’m ashamed of myself! I bought more make-up before I used up 10 products! As most of you know already, most of the Facekitt world is revolving around the amazing resurfacing of “Project Pan“. I convinced myself to do it after a while but I should’ve known better, how can I expect myself to walk into a drugstore and walk out with no make-up? – …ashamed! I feel like an addict, I walked past the beauty isle and my palms got all sweaty and the room started to spin (okay, thats an exaggeration – but still!) I picked up a few of the Color Tattoo Eyestudio Eyshadow’s and I ripped them open before I even got in my room! – addict? I was going to review one of them because I figured that they’re all pretty much the same thing – boy was I wrong! They may share the same name, but some are a lot better than others! In this post (because I haven’t decided which one is my favorite, I’m going to review the one I’m positive is the worst of the bunch!) – I think it’s the only matte one I saw, so lets start there!

Review: Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette (and comparison with Naked 1, the Balm Nude’Tude and MAC dupes)

Review: Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette (and comparison with Naked 1, the Balm Nude’Tude and MAC dupes)

So finally!  I have in my possession the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette! Debenhams in the UK released it at midnight on the 9th of January, which is exactly when I ordered it.  I have to say I was a bit disappointed at the reception to the Naked 2 palette in the UK.  As I’m writing this it is still in stock, whereas in the US it flew off the shelves!

But even so, if you’d like to hear my thoughts (including comparisons and dupes) please keep reading!

Holy Grail Eye Product – Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner

Holy Grail Eye Product – Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner

Being someone who is permanently in a rush to go somewhere, I have tried my fair share of cream eyeshadows.  Quicker to apply and blend than powder eyeshadows (simply sweep them over your lids with your finger and you’re good to go!) they seemed the solution to my busy uni/work schedule.  However, try as I might I could never find a cream eyeshadow that wouldn’t crease on  my oily lids.  Until I used a Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner.

A Terrific Trio

A Terrific Trio

I fell in love with Stila’s eye shadow trio in Gold Glow the moment that I saw it.  Stila makes amazing eye shadows and this is no exception.  I chose to get the Gold Glow because I liked the color combination the most.  What I like most about this product is that it can create a whole eye look.  I use the light champagne color all over the lid and for an inner corner highlight, then the bronze color in the crease and outer corner, and lastly the gold for my lower lash line.
