I’ve been meaning to do this post for awhile, considering I’ve had these samples since August…but better late than never! My boss from my summer/breaks from school job (who also happens to be my boyfriend’s dad) goes to trade shows for the
agriculture industry and brought me back these perfume samples from Annie Oakley. The name Annie Oakley sounded familiar to me, but I never knew it was a fragrance line. I was given nine samples of perfumes and three colognes…so here is what I think about them.
First let’s talk about Annie Oakley as a fragrance brand. Annie Oakley was started by Renee Gabet in 1980 and is located in Ligonier, Indiana. “Her mission was to create world class perfumes right here in the American heartland.” Annie Oakley is also the only perfumery in the USA. Tours are offered of the perfumery, so I definitely want to check it out the next time I travel to Indiana. Also the perfumes are reasonably priced at $25.50 for 1.35 Fl Oz.
Out of the nine scents I have samples of two are citrus, three are floral and four are musky. I’m not the best at describing scents, so all descriptions came from the Annie Oakley website.
CITRUS
Citrus and Honey: “As warm and bright as an orange grove, as light and golden as the day’s end…Citrus & Honey combines a delicate orchard-fresh scent with gentle honey, vanilla and sandalwood for a soothing, ultimately pleasing fragrance. Made with our exclusive SeaOats ™ protein to add wonderful moisturizers, minerals and skin-rejuvenating botanicals for toned and radiant skin.”
Verbena Blossom: “As fresh as a meadow at dawn, Verbena Blossom surrounds you with a fruity, citrus bouquet…sparkling with verbena flowers and lemon…drifting off to light scents of rose, jasmine and orange blossoms. Made with Annie Oakley’s exclusive SeaOats ™ protein to add wonderful moisturizers, minerals and skin-rejuvenating botanicals for toned and radiant skin.”
FLORAL
White Lily: “A timeless treasure. One of nature’s purest gifts, the white lily fills the air with its divine perfume. Annie Oakley captures the sophistication and grace of the white lily in this delicate floral fragrance.”
Honeysuckle: “A tender floral scent. Just like the scent of flowers carried in a gentle breeze, Honeysuckle’s lovely floral fragrance drifts softly around you for a bright summer feeling everywhere you go.”
Evening Lavender: “As daylight fades into evening , the air is filled with gentle breezes and the light scent of rose and lavender. Soothing Evening Lavender combines vanilla, white musk, and green leafy notes for a soft, calming fragrance any time of day. Made with our exclusive SeaOats ™ protein to add wonderful moisturizers, minerals and skin-rejuvenating botanicals for tones and radiant skin.”
MUSKY
Sunset: “For an evening to remember. As lush and intoxicating as a warm tropical evening. Sunset envelopes the senses in fruity florals, softened with gentle breezes of jasmine, sandalwood, patchouli and white musk.”
Annie: ”The essence of romance and beauty. The heart and spirit of Annie Oakley is captured in this beautiful new fragrance. An elegant blend of fresh florals and rich leafy scents. Annie is feminine, refined, a true American classic.”
Indian Musk: “A warm and stirring fragrance. Indian Musk combines earth’s most lovely and basic scents, pure gardenia blossoms and musk, for a fragrance as lush as a forest after the rain.”
Morning Dew: “As full of promise as the new day. As breathtaking as sunrise at a country cottage, as pure as lilacs drenched in raindrops, begin each day with simple joys.”
My four favorite of the bunch are Sunset, White Lily, Honeysuckle and Annie.
COLOGNES
Stampede: “As untamed as a stampede, this bold fragrance was created for the man who lives by his own rules and dreams about a life without boundaries. Woody
herbals, cactus rose and the essence of Spanish moss combine for the warm and masculine scent of Stampede. Stampede. Live it.”
Sagebrush: “Where the sky meets the ground and a blazing campfire is one of the day’s most beautiful sights…this is where you belong. As you pull your hat down and take the reins, you know life is good. And for you, nothing beats genuine, full-bodied Sagebrush, bright, clean, and fresh with a hint of sage, lime, and sandalwood. Sagebrush. Genuinely masculine.”
Wild West: “The rush of adrenaline, the thrill of the chase. Nothing says adventure like the wild west. Capture the heart pounding excitement with Wild West Cologne, a blend of crisp bergamot and zesty lemon that puts you in the action.”
The three colognes; Wild West, Stampede and Sagebrush all smell nice. The Stampede scent reminds me a lot of an Old Spice cologne my dad had when I was younger. Unfortunately for me my boyfriend is not the cologne wearing type (he occasionally sprays on AXE) so these will not be of use by him. If he did like cologne, holiday and birthday shopping for him would be so much easier (hahaha). So I may pass these onto my dad or brother because I don’t wear cologne. But if I did wear cologne, I would go with the Sagebrush scent.
Overall these scents are very nice, some I think are better off if they were used as sprays for the home. There are so many fragrance brands, but if you’re looking for something different I recommend checking out Annie Oakley.
Have you tried Annie Oakley before?
