Here comes another nail polish post from the nail polish junkie!  My boyfriend’s mom likes to buy me some goodies when she goes to Ulta every once in a while, so she picked this up for me a few weeks ago.  I had never heard of this brand or this kind of polish, which made me super excited to try it.

The color she got me is 07 Ocean Rush.  It’s a gorgeous turquoise blue, that reminds me a lot of Essie’s Beach Bum Blu.  These polishes retail for $15.50 and can be purchased at Ulta (let me know if you know where else to get these).

On the bottle are directions for how to use this polish.  First it says to prep natural nails with Hologram Effect Base File- I’m not sure what this is and I haven’t been able to find it at Ulta.  I used my Butter London Nail Foundation as a base coat and let it completely dry.  Then it says to apply the polish and wait 30 minutes for the hologram effect to happen.  I wasn’t sure if you were supposed to wait the full 30 mins and then

apply a top coat, so I applied my top coat a few minutes after the polish dried.

I have a tip for using this polish: apply thick coats and do it quickly.  Also don’t move the brush back in forth or it will make the polish look streaky.  I did that a few times so not every nail is perfect.  It took me 3 coats for the polish to be opaque.

This is the polish in the sunlight, you can see the holographic effect on my thumb nail.  Sorry for the chipped nails!  Also another great thing about this polish is the ease of being able to take it

off…it was a breeze!

Have you tried a holographic nail polish?

Next week I will post about the products I use when I have a (fake) tan.
