I’ve heard a lot about these recently, especially from one of my favorite YouTubers- Amarixe. On a trip to Walgreens I saw they were buy one get one half-off (Ulta has this deal right now too). As this post gets published I am in New York, which was a main reason I picked up these polishes. I did not have time to go get my nails done before I left and I wanted something that would act as a gel manicure. I will be in New York for about a week and I didn’t want to have to paint my nails every other day like I normally do. The Revlon Colorstay polishes are supposed to be gel-like so let’s see how they are…
I picked up the base coat, top coat and two colors in Buttercup and Pale Cashmere. The timing was perfect with these being on sale because my Butter London top coat went bad and the only other top coat I had was an OPI one, which is reallly bad (does anyone else agree??). These polishes retail for
about $8 U.S.
The base coat and top coat are very nice and the brushes actually have two brush heads. At first I found this weird, but it gets very spot on my nails in one swipe.
Buttercup looks like the perfect pastel yellow, that I think will complement my skin coloring nicely. When I bought Butter London’s Cheeky Chops earlier this year I thought it would look more like this color, but boy was I wrong. I think wearing pastels in the summer is super fun because this color is somewhat unexpected
Pale Cashmere was the other color I got. It’s very comparable to OPI Bubble Bath and Essie Fiji, although, this color is pretty sheer. I painted my nails this color the day before I left for my trip and was somewhat disappointed (see photo below). I don’t know if I rushed or what, but this color was very streaky and did not apply well. I ended up doing 3+ coats and some nails took forever to dry. I love the color so doing the extra coats was worth it.
I plan on being much more patient with these polishes next time because I want to see if it’s a formula issue or my fault due to rushing. Overall I’m happy with these polishes and want to try more.
Have you tried any of the Revlon Colorstay polishes?
