After running out of my NARS Pro-Prime this month, I’ve been looking for an alternative. I picked up two different primers, Benefit Porefessional and the Boots No7 Colour Calming. Both of these primers are very different from each other, so read onto see why…
Benefit Porefessional
I first tried Porefessional at the Glasgow airport in the Duty Free shop on my way back home from vacation. The girl working in the Benefit section was very nice and helpful. I really liked the product when she tested it on the back of my hand, but decided not to purchase it right then. So when I was running low on my NARS primer, I took a trip to Ulta and bought it.
This “Pro balm” is not cheap as it cost $29 for .75 fl. oz. Is it just me or is that price crazy for the amount of product? Anyway, I have found myself using it only on my nose, chin, under the eyes and forehead. Porefessional is supposed to minimize the appearance of pores and it REALLY does!!
Will I repurchase? Probably yes because it does what it says and so far I have been enjoying it.
Boots No7 Colour Calming
While browsing at Target last week I saw the Boots line, which is from a UK drug store. I saw the primers were $9.99 and that they had one to correct red complexions. When I bought it it didn’t even cross my mind that the primer could be green because green cancels out redness.
So, yes this primer is green and unfortunately the green color doesn’t blend out as much as I would like it to. Of course once foundation is applied over it the green is not visible. The smell of this product also bothers me, but it is ok because it is on the cheaper side.
Will I repurchase? As of right now, no because the green tint is just too weird.
Swatches:
I’m still looking for my perfect primer. I did really like the NARS one (you can read my post about it here), but I want to try some more to see if I can find something better. My next primer purchase will be
the Make Up Forever one because I tried a sample of it and really enjoyed it.
Have you found a primer that you really enjoy?
