On the outside, the packaging doesn’t look ostentatious enough for me to pick them up in a store, but Solone Eyeliner Pencil was coined by Fashion Guide Taiwan as the Best Eyeliner Pencil. Did this really live up to my expectation

s? While I will not be doing a Avril Lavigne cry

test, I’ll be putting these inkers to my usual scrutiny and give you a verdict by the end of the post.

The eyeliner comes with a purple sharpener. On first look, they honestly lead me to think that they were terribly cheap, and unuseable. My moronic self, for the live of me, could not insert any liners into the hole of the sharpener, until I realized that there’s a stopper in front of the hole. Pull it out, and it will work as per normal. I tried sharpening my other cream eyeliners that had extremely fragile lead inserts, they did well without any breakage. Even my holika holika sharpeners couldn’t be as functional as this one.

On first swipe, I thought that these liners were creamy, I tried it on my monolids and they didn’t tug on my lids nor did it skip, but of course, there are creamier eyeliners out there. They are comparable to the holika holika eyeliners, but the setting time for this has proven to be so much quicker than the latter. I didn’t encounter any worries for smudging before it sets, and the application was smooth.

I took it a step further by trying the smudge, water, and oil test on them. Results are as follows…

Tested with rose hip seed oil.

It might seemed as though I have failed as a beauty blogger for giving such an unbalanced review, but I can’t really think of any cons for this liner. A few caveats are that in oil, it does fade off with subsequent rubbings, however they don’t smudge off – they pretty much just fade off. Also, because of this long lasting power, using a dedicated eye makeup remover is definitely recommended compared to regular wipes.

Do you know what’s the best thing about this liner? It’s pretty much a drugstore brand, and it retails for S$11.90 on Solone’s online store, Gmarket and eBay. Openflea (the Haute look of Singapore) is working with Champstar to give customers a 1-for‐1promotion on the 5th of July! That’s S$5.95 for one! Check them out!
