The first time I heard of SheSaidBeauty, which is a subscription beauty box, was via twitter . You can find them on twitter using @SheSaidBeauty
I tweeted that I would like to try out the SheSaidBeauty service in order to review it for Facekitt readers and was kindly sent the box for June. If you would like to find out what was in my box and what I think about it then please read on.
I wasn’t sure when in June the box would arrive and was pleasantly surprised, and will admit, rather excited to receive it on the 1st of June. Here is how it looked before I opened the mailing box.
I decided not to check out the monthly price of this service before receiving it in order not to affect my judgement so that I could then decide whether or not I felt it was worth the price after I had experienced it (if that makes sense!). However I am sure most of you are wondering about the cost and I can tell you that it is £9 but you also have to pay £2.95 per month for postage and packaging. You have the option to buy it once and not be tied in any further than that, or you can make a payment of £35.85 for three months or £71.70 for 6 months ( I have included p&p in these costs). If you wanted to go ahead and subscribe for a year, you get a 15% discount bringing the total cost for the year to £127.20 including postage and packaging.
Here is how it looks once you open the mailing box.
I really like this Tiffany blue colour for the box, I think it makes it look expensive. The box has a magnetic flap in order to securely close it and it, I will be using it to store things in, it is too pretty to throw away.
When I opened the box this is what I saw.
Again I really like the colour of the tissue paper and the way it is tied with a ribbon and secured with a sticker gives it a high-end, luxury feel, in my opinion. So I opened the ribbon and paper to reveal the contents of my June box.
As you can see, straw is used to pack the box, I quite liked this, and immediately set about looking at what I had in my box. I will discuss each item and my first impressions as I have not had enough time to properly review any of them
The first item I picked up and looked at was the St Tropez Gradual Tan Everyday Body Moisturiser 75ml , also included was a sample of Yardley London’s Royal Diamond Eua de Toilette, a sample of Ginvera Green Tea Nude Cover BB Cream with SPF 30, Balance Me’s Super Moisturisng Hand Cream 30 ml, Let’s Go Lashes in No 9 and Elemis Tranquil Touch Indulgent Bath Elixer 50ml.
My very first thoughts were that the St Tropez sample was a generous size, enough to tell whether or not you like the product enough to buy a full one. I received medium/dark in my box which is fine for my skin colouring but perhaps this wouldn’t suit everyone. I think I am right in saying some people received the St Tropez Self Tan Perfect Legs which is a spray on type tanner. If I am honest I would have preferred to try this out as I have a Garnier gradual tanner I really like but I have never tried a spray on tanner for legs. There is a card which comes in the box telling you a bit about each product and I was pleased to see that customers of SheSaidBeauty, who do like the St Tropez product and who wish to buy a full one, can get 20% off using a code.
The next thing I thought was that I will definitely use the hand-cream as I am never without it. I carry it with me all the time as I get really dry hands. I saw on the SheSaidBeauty site that some people do not like the smell of it , it smells of lavender, and I like that smell so it is not a problem for me. It says on the card that this 30ml size costs £6 which is half of the cost for one months box including having it delivered. Put that way the whole thing seems like a good deal to me.
I also think that the Elemis bath elixir is a good size at 50ml. This has notes of patchouli, cedarwood and vetivert which aim to relax you as you enjoy a long soak. I don’t make enough time for baths, I do enjoy them but it takes time that I often don’t have. I look forward to using this as it smells very luxurious and if i really like it I have the option to use a code provided to get 15% off A 300ml bottle which retails for £19.
When I saw that there was a perfume sample in the box I wasn’t thrilled as you can easily pick these up for free. That said, it gave me a chance to smell a fragrance I would probably not have otherwise smelled. It is a scent by Yardley London in order to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. It has notes of pear, bergamot, honey, floral bouquet and has a soft woody and vanilla base. It is very feminine and grown up indeed. I was surprised by it and I like it which I didn’t expect to. A 50ml bottle of this is a very affordable £9.99 and if I saw it in a shop I would seriously consider buying it now that I have had the chance to sample it at my own leisure.
I haven’t yet had time to try out the fake lashes. They come with a glue and it states that they are worth £8.95 which again makes the box seem like value for money. It also states that there are 40 different lashes available by this company which is Let’s Go Lashes. I look forward to taking them on holiday with me and trying them.
I also haven’t had time to try out the Ginvera BB cream sample. To be honest I am not sure that with such a small sample that I will properly be able to tell if i like it. It contains SPF 30 and has a blend of antioxidants to help fight free radical damage and prevent fine lines. It all sounds good and so I will try it soon and see how I feel. There is also a discount code for this product in order to recieve 20 % off of a 25ml tube which normally costs £20.
Overall I am really impressed with this service and the products that I recieved. They were nicely packaged and they are in my opinion good high-end samples with one full sized product which is the lashes. SheSaidBeauty have a really user-friendly and interesting website and as I sai earlier they also have a really interesting Facebook feed. I would highly recommend trying it out, even for one month, in order to experience it.
I look forward to writing again when I return from my holiday, until then take care beauties.
Francene.
