Ladies and Gentlemen!! In one corner, we have the ever so popular Jergens Natural Glow Gradual Tanning Lotion!! And in the other corner, a new fighter on the scene (well at least to me), St. Tropez Gradual Tan Everyday Body Lotion!! Ready?? FIGHT!!
Okay, okay all drama aside, a couple weekend ago, I picked up a small size of St. Tropez’s gradual tanner from Sephora and wondered how it would compare to Jergens, which has been my fail-safe gradual tanner. So lets just get started:
Round 1: Price and Availability.
-Jergens: I’m pretty sure you can get it for about $10 at Target/Walmart/Walgreens, etc. So its pretty cheap and you can find it at any drugstore!
-St. Tropez: Since I got my sample for free, I looked online at Sephora.com and it was $30. You can get it at Sephora and Sephora.com.
Winner: Jergens!! Its definitely cheaper and easier to get your hands on!
Round 2: Effectiveness.
(Now I’m kicking myself for not taking before/after pictures!!)
-Jergens: It usually takes about 3 days to a week to notice any darkness to my skin.
-St. Tropez: I noticed color the next day!!
Winner: St. Tropez!! It works so quickly!!
Round 3: Smell!!
-Jergens: Yikes!! It smells bad! I mean, not like straight up self tanner, but a pathetic attempt to cover it up. And the smell lasts all day! I am so self conscious about it!
-St. Tropez: It doesn’t smell like self tanner at all!! There is still a fragrance, but I found it pretty pleasant!! And it seemed to fade as the day went on!!
Winner: St. Tropez!!! No contest here.
So as you can see, St. Tropez wins it all in my book!! If you’re serious about gradual tanner than its the way to go. But if you’re just wanting something for every once in awhile, it might not be something you should splurge on! But I know once I’m done with the sample, I’ll be spending to get the full size!! My pale Irish skin needs a little help!!

This is very helpful I know now what to get. I need to splurge on the St. Tropez. Thanks
