Surprisingly so, I’ve been limiting the amount of makeup I’ve been buying lately because I’m moving into a condo soon, and I’ve been trying to spend my money on necessities only but I couldn’t hold off any longer… And come on, makeup IS a necessity for us beauty junkies. So after a recent trip to the drug store I picked up a few products that I can’t seem to get enough of.

As if I didn’t have enough nail polish already I decided to pick up 3 more. 2 from the new L’Oreal nail polish collection, and 1 from the new Maybelline collection. And let me tell you… These 3 nail polishes have instantly made the top 5 in my favourite spring/summer colours. And they’re cheap! They were all around $3 CAN.

(Left to Right: Jet Set to Paris, Violet Vixen, Coral Crush)

My favourite of these 3 is probably “Violet Vixen”, but something about the packaging of the Maybelline one just really makes me fall in love. All these are perfect spring/summer colours and look great on finger nails or toe nails. After wearing all of them, from what I can tell the L’Oreal ones last longer than Coral Crush which started chipping after just a couple days. If you do 3 coats of the L’Oreal colours they lasted me almost a week which is amazing for my nails.

Another thing I picked up was an eyeshadow quad from Covergirl. I had originally gone looking for the ‘Shimmering Sands’ trio, but it was sold out and I decided to try out the ‘Urban Basics’ quad.

(Swatches a bit backwards – 1, 4, 3, 2)

Unfortunately this quad was a bit of a waste for me to get. The colours aren’t very pigmented (I had to almost dig my fingers in to get a good swatch), and they don’t show up well on my skin at all, especially the farthest left colour (1). I do like the second colour in the quad (2), it is a nice shimmery gold, but it’s slightly similar to some other colours I have. Thankfully it was under $5 CAN, but I won’t be purchasing this one again. It might be great for someone with paler skin, but definitely wasn’t a good match for my skin tone.

If you’re a regular Facekitt reader you’ll know how much I love the Revlon Lip Butters. I saw a sale on them recently (Buy 2, Get 1 Free) so I decided to pick up 2 for myself, and one for a future giveaway. I already own Creme Brulle, Cherry Tart and Strawberry Shortcake, but I decided to add Sweet Tart and Peach Parfait to my collection.

(Left: Peach Parfait, Right: Sweet Tart)

(Top: Peach Parfait, Bottom: Sweet Tart)

Let me tell you how much I love Sweet Tart! This picture doesn’t do its vibrance justice. I own MAC ‘Watch Me Simmer’ and this is a fairly close dupe for it. It’s a lot more opaque than MAC’s, but it’s very similar. I was a little disappointed in Peach Parfait though. I didn’t realize it was so sparkly when I was buying it. I’d seen it on Emma Stone in the Revlon Lip Butter ad, and thought it looked gorgeous on her, so I assumed “hey maybe I could pull it off too”… boy was I wrong! Not only is the colour just not right for my skin tone, it’s waaaayyy too sparkly. I’m sure the colour looks lovely on other people (again probably those with paler skin), but unfortunately it does nothing for me. I’ll probably keep it to try mixing with other lipsticks because I don’t want it to go to waste, but alone it’s not the colour for me.

The last thing I picked up was another nail item. I’d seen quite a few people (celebrities and YouTube guru’s) using the nail sticker art, and after seeing it on sale for $8 CAN instead of $11, I decided to try it out. Being a fan of Zebra print I picked up these guys…

How cool are they?! I’m so excited to try these out. I don’t think I’ll just do plain Zebra print, I’ll probably do some cool design if I decide to be creative, but I fell in love with these the minute I saw them. Have any of you tried these?

I hope you all enjoyed this haul! Let me know if you’ve tried any of these products out!

Happy Friday!
