So I’ve been a little lipstick obsessed recently and have been buying shades to wear this Spring/Summer. In fact I’ve picked up three new shades in the space of a couple of weeks, which might not sound like much, but it’s a lot of the same product for me! If you want to know what I’ll be wearing on my lips in the coming months, please keep on reading!
I may as well add now that this post is going to be very photo heavy….
The first lipstick I bought was one I’ve been lusting after for ages but could not justify the price tag. Then I had a rubbish week and thought sod it, I’m going to treat myself!
It’s Chanel’s Rouge Coco Shine in Boy:
I know this lipstick has been out for a while and the hype over it has kind of died down but I’m really excited to own it! It’s a gorgeous, really natural colour with slight sparkle (which I don’t normally wear on my lips!) and gives the most beautiful, glossy shine. Chanel describe it as a ‘hydrating sheer lipshine’ and that’s exactly what it is. Just a hint of colour and it feels amazing on my lips – really nourishing! I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of applying it! It doesn’t last very long as a result of it being so sheer and hydrating, but I’ll forgive that because the formula is fantastic. One major downside is the price. £23. Ouch! I think this will look great for a natural lip in Spring/Summer though!
My second lipstick purchase was just as impulsive. It’s a Topshop lipstick in Infrared:
This is my second Topshop lipstick and if you haven’t tried their lipsticks before you have to! The formula is amazing, really creamy, applies amazingly and lasts for ages. I bought this shade after seeing Zoe from Zoella280390 on YouTube wearing it and I decided I had to have it. I went to Topshop and bought it that day! It’s a bit daring for me I have to say! It’s a reddy orange colour (swatches really orange but can appear more red or orange on my lips depending on the light) which I know is a little out of style right now but it’s a great way to update your red lip for summer. I am obsessed with this shade, it’s definitely one of my new favourites. Totally clashes with my new hair colour but my boyfriend reckons it ‘clashes in a good way’ (let’s hope so!). Topshop describe the formula as a ‘velvet finish moisturising lipstick’. I agree! I have to also mention the packaging for this one, not only does it look really cool it’s also great quality – not bad for £8!
Last but not least my final lipstick purchase (of the last two weeks!) was one I’ve actually been debating over for weeks (ask Linda!). It’s from MAC’s Shop MAC collection and it is Watch Me Simmer:
I wasn’t sure whether to buy this lipstick because reviews and online swatches completely confused me. I could not tell how this colour was going to turn out on my lips. Would it make me look like a clown? I thought it would be a pinky coral colour, which is how it looks in the bullet, but on my lips it’s quite a bright pink (with maybe the tiniest smidge of coral?). Although I love this colour I’m a bit disappointed it doesn’t look how I imagined it on but nevertheless it will still look amazing in Spring/Summer. And yes, it does clash with my hair but I am still hoping it’s ‘in a good way’! It’s an ‘Amplified’ finish and it doesn’t dry my lips out at all (my lips can be pretty dry!). Lasts forever to the point of staining! This was £13.50.
I hope this post has been interesting (and maybe given you some lipstick inspiration!). Let me know what you think in the comments below!
