Covergirl explains this foundation as “redefine natural beauty with a touch of cucumber water and a hint of jojoba and rose hip extracts. Our light formula takes heavy weight out of your polished finish.” It’s silky texture, affordability and easy blending ability make this product my favourite drug store foundation.
Covergirl really impressed me with this product. Having a foundation that’s light weight is really important to me, and this product is just that. It’s great if you want light coverage, medium coverage or full coverage. It’s affordable, blend able and feels weightless on your face. A lot of the time my skin only needs light coverage, so I like that this foundation can give you any type of coverage you want. It suits your needs, which is a non negotiable for me when it comes to foundation.
This line has 14 different shades available that cover what I assume to be most people’s skin tone. I use 310 Flax when I’m at my lightest, and 325 Sandstone when I’m my darkest. This wide range of colours makes it easy for people to find their match.
The texture of this foundation is a silky mix of a cream and liquid, but is quite creamy feeling to touch. I would rate the longevity of this product about a 8, based on my skin type. My skin is fairly normal, but sometimes will be dry on my forehead but oily on my t-zone (weird, I know!) So, if I set my foundation with a setting powder, it usually lasts longer, which is what I found with this product. When I wore it without setting it, there was some melt off during the day and it made me look oily. However, when I set it, it stayed in place for the whole day and the shine was minimal. I would say that if your skin is oily you may not find this the best product. I’ve read reviews and a lot of people with oily skin do use it, however, it does add a dewy shine to your face that some people may not like. Personally I like the dewy look, but if you like more of a matte finish you may want to go with a different foundation.
I know reading reviews can give a lot of information that’s hard to break down sometimes, so let me do it for you!
Pros
- light weight
- affordable
- lots of colour choice (14)
- blend able
- light, medium OR full coverage
- long wear
Cons
- smell at first is a little odd, but goes away quickly
- dewy finish (not ideal for oily skin)
- oily if not set with powder
Overall, I would rate this product a 9 (for my skin). It’s my go to foundation for when I’m a little lazy (or don’t want to waste my Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua) I also have swatches of this foundation along with a couple others in a review here if you’d like to see its consistency.
Have you used this foundation? What do you think?
Linda, xx
