I regularly paint my nails and they always chip. Honestly, it ruins my day when I have even the slightest chip of my nail polish. I try to always use a base coat, but feel like it doesn’t help.
On my latest trip to Ulta while glancing at the Butter London nail polishes and saw their Nail Foundation base coat. This product is cool because it has a matte finish that I think creates a great base for nail polish. I’ve used this a few times and haven’t seen drastic changes with my nail polish chipping, but that may be because I have been packing and trying to get ready for my new school semester.
The Nail Foundation is pricey at $18 a bottle, but it is bigger than the regular Butter London polish bottles. I think that the more I use it, the more I will like it.
I recently got new storage for my nail polish for my room at home. I’ve been skeptical to order a nail polish rack online because they are pricey and just haven’t found one from a site I feel like I can trust. So while I was out with my mom one day, we stopped in the Container Store. Unfortunately the only nail polish storage they had was a tabletop one. We looked around in other sections besides cosmetics and I found wall mounted acrylic spice racks that looked nice and would do the job. I ended up getting two and have not hung them up yet.
The top shelf holds Essie and Butter London polishes the best: 20 Essie polishes or at least 21 Butter London. And the bottom shelf is best for OPI: 16 polishes fit. For now I like how this storage system works, but in the future I would like storage made for nail polish.
I’m about to go paint my nails right now (OPI’s Effiel For This Color) and will post a photo when they look “presentable.”
How do you store your nail polish and what it on your nails right now? And do you have any good tips or tricks to make a manicure last?

love the acrylic holder! i may order some stuff off the container store because the storage I have for my nail polishes and stuff is horrible! i use little white baskets from walmart but it just doesn’t work. this looks like a much better idea!
