It’s safe to say that I have a huge addiction to makeup and beauty products… I’m constantly thinking of new products I want to go buy, and after a couple recently shopping trips I was pleased to get a lot of the products I’d been searching for.
As soon as I’d heard about the new MAC line “Iris Apfel”, I immediately fell in love with every lipstick in the collection. I had gone into MAC wanting to pick up “Flamingo” and “Party Parrot” from the collection, because as much as I love all the colours I really couldn’t afford getting them all. Luckily I went in and ended up getting the last “Flamingo” (CAN $21) they had in stock (this colour was sold out everywhere, even online!). Unfortunately they didn’t have any “Party Parrot” left so that will be a purchase I make at a different time. Here is what the gorgeous coral-pink lipstick looks like…
Along with this lipstick I bought a MAC lipglass from the “Tour de Fabulous” collection that I thought would look perfect over top of “Flamingo”. The colour I got was “Tour de Fabulous” (CAN $17) which is pretty much the same as “Flamingo” just a glossy finish.

Here is a swatch I did of both “Flamingo” and “Tour de Fabulous”.
The last thing that I bought at MAC was their Mineralized Skin Finish Natural (CAN $32). I had been in the market for a skin finish or just some sort of good powder to set my makeup, and after testing this in the store I fell in love. It takes away any shine without making your face look too matte. I found it made my makeup look flawless, which is always a plus. The lady in the store said that if your skin is oily the product tends to not stay on as well, so I don’t have the problem because I have more dry/combination skin.

The next thing on my shopping list was to find the Revlon Lip Butter’s that I had heard countless people rave about. When I lived in Ontario it hadn’t been released there yet, but I had heard a rumour that it was released out in British Columbia and Alberta (I live in Alberta). So I was determined to find it, and because of this dragged around my boyfriend into a good handful of Walmart’s and drug stores. I finally came across the collection in a store called “London Drugs”. There was a coupon I saw on the ground for buy 2 get 1 free so thankfully I was able to pick up 3 of my favourite colours; “Strawberry Shortcake” (great dupe to MAC “Flamingo”), “Cherry Tart” (perfect subtle red lip) & “Creme Brulee” (great nude colour). Below are what they look like and their swatches…
These lip butters are the perfect lipstick/lipgloss mix. They’re extremely moisturizing but give great colour pigment. Since getting them I have used at least one of this every day. They were only CAN $7, so extremely affordable given their quality! Next time I go out I am definitely going to grab more colours of these.
Another product that I had been on the hunt for was the Maybelline 24hr Eye Studio Colour Tattoo’s. They had been released in the states but I had yet to see them in Canada. Once again I was lucky and came across them in my local Walmart. I only picked up two colours “Bad to the Bronze” and “Tough as Taupe” because they were the only neutral colours in stock at that time. They had lots of bright colours, but I rarely wear those so I decided to stick to neutrals for now. I was a little skeptical of this product because I had heard they were being compared to MAC paint points which I LOVE, so I wasn’t sure if anything could really compare. But I have to say, after using this product the past two days now they really are as great as people say. Not only do they last on my eyes for the full day, after I swatched them on my arm for the picture below it was nearly impossible to get off. I had to use my Neutrogena makeup wipes to get it off my arm. I have yet to try this product with other eyeshadows, I have just worn them alone for a simple look (the bronze is a great creamy dupe for MAC Woodwinked).
After looking through my makeup collection I realized that I don’t try enough mascara brands, so while picking up the Revlon Lip Butters I decided to pick up L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara because I had heard good things. So far after using it for a couple days I really like it. It doesn’t clump too much and reminds me a lot of my Makeupforever Smoky Lash Mascara, but for half the price (CAN $10).

The final thing purchased on my gigantic shopping spree was a hair product that I hadn’t ever needed to get until I moved to Alberta. The weather is very dry out here and I was finding my hair was really tangled when I got out of the shower (no matter how awesome my condition and Aussie 3 minute miracle hair treatment is). While browsing around my local beauty supply store Chatters I came across KMS California Moist Repair leave in conditioner. This was quite expensive, it was CAN $17 but has worked wonders on my hair. I spray it all over my hair and focus mostly on the ends and then comb through my hair with no problem at all. I use this before I use any of my other hair products. This is also the first thing I have owned from KMS California, but I am definitely interested in purchasing other products from them.
