We see bold lips on the red carpet all the time.
We see celebrities wearing bold lips on a daily basis as well, so why can’t we?
Of course we can! It may be a little intimidating at first but I have some great tips and products to help you ease into it.
Revlon lip butters
My first product is the new Revlon lip butters which can be found at most drug stores and are very affordable.
Not only do they deposit color but they are very moisturizing and smooth to apply.
There is no way you won’t find a shade you like because even though this is a new product it is available in 20 different shades. They are sold in nudes, pinks, reds, browns, you name it, they got it!
They allow for very buildable color so you can achieve a bold lip that you are comfortable with, not intimidated.
Lip Stains
Many brands have their own versions of lipstains and they are a great way to try a bold lip color.
These are also very affordable, they other day I even saw a pack that had two CG lipstains and two full size balms at Costco for only $15.
If you are looking for a plum, I would recommend Revlon just bitten in the color “Crave,” it’s great for the holidays.
My next tips are very affordable because they include items that you probably already have at home.
Tip #1: Apply some vaseline or lip balm before applying a dark lipstick. The slickness of the balm won’t allow for too much color to transfer onto your lips which is typically a bad thing unless you are trying to achieve a subtle bold lip look.
Tip #2: Apply some vaseline or balm to your lips and then dab a colored eyeshadow over the gloss. It creates a great look and the possibilities are endless!
Tip #3: Similar to the first tip, if you own a l’oreal infallible lip color you know how opaque they are but if you apply the balm first and then dab on a little bit of color and spread it out over the rest of your lips with your finger you will have a sheer color. This must be done quickly before the color sets. Also very important, when using infallible never use lip liner. It creates a “wall” between your lip and the color and when the lip liner start to rub off so does the infallible color, it becomes very flakey.
Those are a few of the tips I use when I don’t feel like being too daring, but remember ladies there are no rules to make-up! It is a creative expression so be bold, bright, and daring and don’t be afraid to have your lipstick be too!
