I remember the first time I experimented with eyeliner.  I was in middle school and had absolutely no idea what I was doing and I know all I did was use a black pencil on my water line.  Well since then I have ventured into using other types of eyeliner and would like to share with you all the four different types I own.

Gel- Buxom Lashliner in leatherette

When I first bought this product I was scared to use it, but in this case practice really makes perfect.  Now I can use this product very easily and I love it.  I’ve only used this product on my upper lash line, but I’m sure it can be used on the water line as well.  I highly recommend you to invest in a good gel eyeliner if you love eyeliner.

Pencil- NYX Slide On, Glide On, Stay On & Definitely A Turn On Water Proof, Extreme Shine Eyeliner (that’s a mouthful) in Black Sparkle

If you have never used eyeliner before, then I definitely think a pencil is the way to go.  I find that pencils are very easy to control, fix and or camouflage if mistakes are made. This product is an exact dupe for Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Oil Slick.  I love the Urban Decay pencils, but the NYX one’s are MUCH cheaper ($18 for Urban Decay compared to $7.99 for NXY) and they are the same product.  This pencil glides on really smooth and can easily be smudged.  The only thing I don’t like about this product is that the glitter in it is chunky and falls out easily.  I will definitely buy more of these, probably without the glitter though.

Liquid- Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Perversion

I’m in love with this liquid eyeliner.  I love the way it looks when it dries, how dark it is, and that it really is waterproof.  The mini brush helps me make a perfect line and lets me easily fix mistakes.  I also have quite the shaky hand and can even make an almost perfect line with my left hand (I’m right handed) with this product.

Cake- Laura Mercier Tightline Cake Eyeliner in Black Ebony

Line above: used dry and line below: used wet

Over the summer I watched a review of this product on YouTube and instantly wanted this product.  Tightlining your eyes is a great way to make your lashes look fuller and this is a great product for that.  I really like that this product can be used wet or dry.  To use this product wet all you need to do is dip your eyeliner brush in water.  Laura Mercier sells a tightline activator liquid that is suggested to be used with this product, but water works the same.

I hope this post helps you out if you’re new to makeup or are looking for new products to try out!
