Being someone who is permanently in a rush to go somewhere, I have tried my fair share of cream eyeshadows.  Quicker to apply and blend than powder eyeshadows (simply sweep them over your lids with your finger and you’re good to go!) they seemed the solution to my busy uni/work schedule.  However, try as I might I could never find a cream eyeshadow that wouldn’t crease on  my oily lids.  Until I used a Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner.

My love affair with these cream eyeshadows started when I used one belonging to my sister.  I had watched a YouTube tutorial and was trying to recreate a look for a night out, which required a bronze cream shadow.  My sister happened to have a Benefit Creaseless Cream and the colour seemed to fit the bill so I used it.

Having used cream eyeshadows before I was expecting the product to crease on my oily lids – despite Benefit claiming ‘these gorgeous shades stay put day or night’.  So I was incredibly surprised when I got home after my night out and saw my eye make up was still in place without a single crease.

It takes a lot for a product to become a Holy Grail item in my make up bag, but I have been using these cream eyeshadows for a long time now and I wouldn’t want to be without them in my make up collection.  I currently have them in two colours, Honey Bunny and Samba-dy Loves MeHoney Bunny is very close to my skin colour – almost identical actually.  Samba-dy Loves Me looks a lot darker in the pot, (a coppery colour) but is much paler on the skin (a rose gold colour, which a subtle shimmer).  Samba-dy Loves Me gives me a very subtle tan shimmer on my eyelids when I use it and looks particularly pretty if I have tanned.

(Please ignore the colour of my hands – Scotland is currently very cold!!)

I adore using these as a base for powder eyeshadows.  I’ve never found a primer I like particularly, as they still seem to make my eyeshadows crease, but the Benefit Creaseless Creams sit under eyeshadow beautifully and will literally last from day to night without creasing.  I use Honey Bunny during the day under neutral, matte eyeshadows and Samda-dy Loves Me under shimmery eyeshadows for a bit of night time sparkle.  It looks amazing under Club from MAC, if you blend Club and Samba-dy Loves Me together at the crease.

These cream eyeshadows are also very buildable.  If you want a lighter, wash of colour then simply sweep it over your lids, but for more impact wait for the first layer of shadow to set then apply another layer.  This works particularly well for Samba-dy Loves Me, as some people may find its initial subtlety pointless in a shadow.

I will say that I don’t like these as liners.  Benefit advertises them as a two in one product, however the consistency doesn’t work for me as a liner.  I like to have a little more slip and movement.  Also, another con, is that the product is a little on the pricey side, at £14.00 or $19.00.  However, as long as you make sure to carefully replace the lid after use the products can last a long time without drying out.  If you don’t replace the lid I’m aware that these can dry out very quickly!

I really want to build on my collection of these amazing cream eyeshadows, because they’re fantastic.  Sadly, because of the price, I won’t be doing it very quickly, but the two shades I have are definitely on my list of Holy Grail items.
